AI will be the biggest revolution to accounting since the invention of double-entry bookkeeping in 1494. The consequence will be profound. Accounting is the source of truth on what happens in a business. It drives every investment, expansion and company survival.
Today, accounting work is still incredibly manual. What was invented in the Middle Ages with pen and paper has simply been moved onto a screen. Humans still click through invoices, enter data, categorize transactions, and more. For small businesses, this manual burden creates a massive barrier to accessing the financial insights they need. Instead of answers, they get paperwork.
We are on a mission to democratize access to financial intelligence. Every company should have financial insights at a fingertip – not just big enterprises with dedicated finance teams. For the first time, AI makes this possible. In the intelligence age, business owners with no financial expertise will get access to all the latent knowledge hidden in their books. Businesses will operate with a level of clarity, confidence, and speed that is almost unimaginable today.

🧠 Stuff you’ll build
- Financial Ledger – We’re building the financial system of record for Europe’s SMBs. In Germany, one legacy incumbent handles the data of ~40% of German GDP. We need to design a platform for that scale. Our 3-person engineering team has already processed €214M in expenses—with zero tolerance for errors.
- Bank & Payments Infrastructure – SMBs want more than pure accounting; they want an all-in-one financial hub. We’re building a full banking suite—from credit cards to transaction reconciliation. If you’ve ever wanted to build a bank without actually building a bank, this is it.
- Frontier AI – to accountants, Tabula feels like Cursor does to devs. But the accuracy bar in accounting is brutal (>99%). To achieve this we are building extensive ML architectures, ranging from closed-source agents to custom trained open source models. - Extremely sophisticated UI, across mobile & web – We are creating the daily workflow tool for accountants: 8 hours a day, 5 days a week. Every click matters when it’s repeated a million times over. The UI has to be fast, real-time, and handle complex business logic across deeply nested data models.
- Vast feature range – An all-in-one financial hub means solving a wide variety of user problems with AI-native approaches. One week you might reinvent how invoices are written with a new AI text editor; the next, you’ll build a messenger for in-app collaboration.
